Electrical Engineer
Full Time, Based in Christchurch, Salary range of $65,000 - $90,000
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Electrical Engineer at Asteria, you’ll develop custom electrical hardware and firmware to enable our clients to achieve their goals, on earth, in space, or somewhere in between.
You will be an essential part of our friendly team. As a small team, each person makes a huge impact--you’ll be able to see the difference you make. In this dynamic and exciting role, you’ll find a broad range of electrical engineering opportunities and be a part of our domestic and international customers' journeys from concept to manufacture.
You will manage projects from start to finish. You’ll work closely with our clients, using your awesome communications skills to understand their goals and how we can help them. You’ll design and produce schematics, circuit boards and products for some of New Zealand’s key aerospace and harsh environment organisations. You will be responsible for building trusted relationships with clients and having a deep understanding of their goals and product needs. You will provide sound advice to clients and work closely with them to develop and integrate products.
This role is ideal for someone who likes to do something a little different each week. Someone who enjoys variety, can manage their time and multiple projects effectively, and enjoys a creative challenge. Someone who works efficiently and effectively on their own, but loves a good brainstorming or problems solving session with the team. Someone who is passionate, hard working and is excited to build something new—something that could go to space!
While this is not a management role, ideally you would have management experience or be interested in becoming a manager as our company grows in the future. For the time being, your management duties would primarily involve managing summer interns when we have them.
This is a full-time position, though for the right candidate we’d be happy to discuss part time options. You must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand to apply. Given the tangible nature of hardware development, we’re looking for someone who can come into the office in Christchurch, though we are able to flexible when required.
ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who can take initiative. Who works well independently and with little direct supervision, but who knows when to bring in a team member for consultation and enjoys working with others. Someone who loves variety, working on and managing multiple projects at once.
Someone who wants to make a difference, see the aerospace industry and our clients grow.
