Our Work

From concept to manufacture, we work closely with our clients to see their projects through to completion. Some of our projects include:

  • High power density smart batteries

  • Communications and power distribution systems

  • Instrumentation systems

  • GaNFET power systems

  • Proof of concept prototypes

  • Scientific experiments in space

  • Nanosatellites and payloads

  • Small scale rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles

Microgravity Experiments in Space

How does the lack of gravity affect cutting-edge scientific experiments? That’s what we set to find out when we partnered with Dr. Sarah Kessans and the University of Canterbury to develop a CubeSat system that allows us to examine and report back on the progress of her scientific experiments in space.

We were responsible for all aspects of the hardware design for both iterations of the payload. This included the complete mechanical design of the payload structure and pressure vessel, the design of the microscope imaging system and the electrical engineering of the support systems.

The second version of LUCY became New Zealand’s first payload to be installed on the International Space Station earlier this year and was a resounding success.

Superconducting Magnets for Space Propulsion

We led the Electrical Engineering of the Hēki payload. This involved designing cutting-edge electronics to meet the electrical and thermal requirements of the payload, managing the manufacture of the electrical systems, and extensively testing them to ensure that the groundbreaking super-conducting magnet that is being developed can be successfully operated in space. The Hēki payload is expected to be the second New Zealand experiment installed on the ISS, and the first demonstration of a high temperature superconducting magnet in space.
